Yeah, if you can’t see the leaderboard yet, you might have to clear your private data (cookies, cache, authenticated sessions). Also, if you can see the leaderboard and not your standing, it might be a bug. We expect to get some support emails, and Lijen and I will be standing by all day tomorrow with the support email open.

But one announcement I wanted to make: We will be monitoring cheaters. If you have a “minion” account where you challenge them for easy wins, you could be taken off of the leaderboard completely!

I have a ingenious idea! if you want to be a car of the week and your car is pretty nice, go to the losses board and challenge lijen+cheechoo. that way they can see your car and you wont get missed out! btw I won’t be challenging any devs for a while, my viper looks ugly (IMO)

I’m having trouble using the wins and losses buttons on the leaderboard, along with the drop down menu as well. It highlights like its a button but when pressed nothing happens. Same thing with the dropdown, click a different option and nothing happens.

Update on the book keeper guys. HES FIRED. That page was bringing down our servers, so we had to pull it until we can re-implement it in a more efficient way. I was under the impression that it doesn’t get used thaaaat much, so we have been prioritizing other new features above it such as the leaderboard. Let me know if I’m wrong and you guys are dearly missing the book keeper. In all fairness, he was a pretty cool guy. The kinda guy you could sit down and have a beer with ya know?

I guess I’m dealing with that “bug.” When I click on my leader board, it’ll only show the first 50 and that’s it. It also does nothing for me when I click on the view my standings/my friends/people I’ve raced. I never got to use, or see, the books feature used, but me personally, I like to see who I’ve beat and have lost to :)

love the leadership. that helped me to decide what car to get. imma gonna get the viper. i didn’t know what to get before since i noticed that the bmw and a couple other ‘fast’ cars were losing way more than winning. so i kept my civic (272 wins, 64 losses) for a while an built my account. now, i know i can get the viper and get a high ratio of wins to losses. thanks for the board!

Alright – makin a call-out to all Porsche owners out there. Look for some PLAUSIBLE parts for the porsche that will help make it faster. (Not that turbo upgrade for the 3.2 carrera engine that I keep seeing on Part Submissions). It has to be compatible with the 3.6L GT3 engine. You’ll get double reward for the Part Submissions if it’s a good one.

Ok I found that RUF makes superchargers for 997’s! idk how about the specifics but there are many articles if you just google “ruf 997 supercharger”. Is this what you are looking for? RUF puts out a lot of aftermarket parts.

i had a look around aswell, found a few things that i submitted so hopefully i gave over enough info to make it happen. there were a couple twin turbo set ups. i’m not sure on the 996, 997 jargon either but the turbo’s were for a 3.6L ‘06 911 porsche so i figured that was close enough.

And yeh i would drop the porsche 4 a gallardo in a heartbeat,lol. i’ve seen some stuff on youtube with a twin turbo gallardo. goddam quick!! lol.

Sorry Porsche owners, there just isn’t much out there for the GT3. Trust me, I live and breath high-end exotics. I’m finding it hard to believe it’d even go to 531. The highest I’ve ever seen is 480ish. And the various TT and blower kits y’all find don’t work with the GT3. It’s a much to light, too high compression engine. The internals just aren’t up to the boost. Cheechoo and others, you should have used the Turbo, there are LOADS of parts out there for it. And it would’ve been a competitor for the Viper.

Oh and the GT3 in the game is a 997. The model is 911 GT3, the generation is 997.

joking sorry about that. i challenged you when i had 692 hp and then upgraded a day later. (3 hrs before). i really hate these vipers because of 13mpg. it means i have to wake up at 5am just to refuel it and then refuel it again at 12pm and again at 5pm. Being able to challenge through the leaderboard is basically just allowing people to pick apart crappy cars just like all the other games out there… Now I’ll be forced to “upgrade” to the ugly ass viper just to keep from getting destroyed. I hate being challenged where I have NO CHANCE of winning! I’m losing by 2+ seconds every fricken time. The whole idea of denying challenges and such is to keep overpowering cars from controlling the game but now with the leaderboard the viper rules the game.

LXS, the “View All Users” only shows the top 50. If you want to see anything more specific you will have to try some of the other filters such as “View My Standing”

ok, after spending way too much time reading all the comments i now feel that i can make my own.

i like the leader board. i think the VDi should be used to calc races. then with 2 cars exactly the same the one with the higher VDi would have a slight advantage (slight). it would also give someone with a slightly underpowered car a way to compete with a more powerful car. then maybe even Lijen could compete with a newb in a viper.

i hear the problem people are having with being challenged by 997 hp vipers (i currently have 9 sitting there waiting to expire). my solution would be to revise the chicken out feature. it would still show that you chickened out, but the other car wouldn’t get rewarded for “bullying” you. instead, they would have the $50 for the challenge deducted from their account. i don’t know if it does now, but it definitely shouldn’t reward the other driver with a win either. as it is, you can make money all day long and never race if you have a fast enough car.

I don’t want to get any chickened outs though, thats the problem I’m having… I’ve dropped way too many races to unfair opponents and now it seems like no one else is challenging me. I’ve noticed that I haven’t had 1 “normal” challenge like an STi or Porsche or GTR once today! People would rather pick apart crap cars with unfair races then race against something that actually has a chance to win.

But now not even they are sending me challenges because they figured out that they can challenge a lot worse cars. I’ll continue to use the random search feature though.

the way i figure it now, my camaro has a 50/50 chance of beating other camaros, 25% chance beating maxed out BMWs and 75% chance of beating GTRs. those are odds i can live with.

I think you are getting the wrong impression! I just want the game to work the way it should… I really could care less about the leaderboards. I just know that the idea of the challenges is so that it doesn’t turn into all the other racing apps… Take pro racer for example: I buy a Veyron and race 200hp civics all day long, how much fun is that? I think its really stupid but of course I do it just because I’m forced to in order to keep up with the rest of the people. I just want to be able to buy and use whatever car I want and be able to have the same experience either way!

i don’t think that Josh is the only one with something to complain about. if you look at the numbers in the link to the top people you’ll notice that most have been playing the game since early on. he’s #7948 while i’m #26697. i think that a lot of his ranking has to do with how long he’s been here, not necessarily how good his car is. i mean, it’s a porsche. how good can it be? ;~) j/k (no offense Josh).

i personally rank way down on the list and i have vipers lining up to smoke me. how did they find me? i don’t have a link for all the world to see. the current system rewards people with faster cars to bully others to either race and lose or chicken out. either way they get paid and the other person is adversely effected.

this wasn’t really an issue when the only way you had of racing someone who wasn’t a friend was the random challenge. that system limited cars that were within 80 hp of your car so the races were more balanced. i don’t think that it is because of his high ranking that people have targeted Josh. he’s just visible now.

haha I don’t mind that the porsche isn’t the greatest, in fact I totally embrace that! I just prefer it because of looks and it would be nice to be able to effectively use the car you like most! I understand now what mike was getting at although he wasn’t exactly nice about it (I know I have been known to flame a person or two… who doesn’t? haha) so I’m over it. Maybe a solution would be to only give $350 in winnings for beating someone with over 80hp less than you? That way they can still race you.

just wonderin… will losing like 5 or 6 races a day more than usual have much of an effect on our standing on the leaderboard?? or is the win/lose ratio not that big a part of our standing? cause like josh i aint gonna turn to the viper-side and refuse to chicken out any more than i already have. i kinda wanna stay where i am on the leaderboard,lol. i like it up here.

Mr. Mike, please keep things civil. I don’t mind foul language at all, unless it’s directed at another vDreamer. That’s when I’ll intervene.

Josh Ferguson – We see what’s going on, and I think it definitely sucks. I too would much rather keep a car that i liked, rather than being forced to pick the fastest car just to keep up. I would personally like to build a system similar to World of Warcraft’s (no, I don’t play anymore) “honor” system. Such as, if you try to race someone way lower than you, something negative will happen, and if you try to race someone way higher than you and win, something even better than winning will happen. I will urge other developers to come on board with something like this. The crappy thing is, it just makes more work for Lijen, who’s plate is certainly full. I think a very short-term fix is going to be – if you win a challenge when you are the underdog, you will be rewarded even more VDI points than usual. But believe me, Josh, I want to fix this. As a gamer, I understand where you’re coming from. I’d much rather keep the porsche than the viper as well, and it’d suck getting challenged by faster cars all the time, just because you’re high up in the rankings. Trust me, I will fight to have something happen.

It seems like it may have to do with accepting, sending, and winning challenges. I have a good win/loss ratio but not the most wins. But I do accept every single challenge I get. I also send out invites even though I don’t get paid for them.

when you’re in the leader board and you click on one of the cars, look and the web address. the number at the end is assigned sequentially (i assume). the lower the number the longer the person has been a part of vDream. Cheechoo is like #5 if i remember correctly. or maybe that was Lijen. anyway, you can find your own number the same way by going to your ranking.

Hey guys,

I made an update last night that should help with the Viper bullying going on. We added a factor into the VDI called the Street Cred Factor based on underdog wins. A win as an underdog will have a heavy impact on your VDI. This should help some of those Porsches and other cars that are getting picked on by Vipers. Also, Cheechoo is working hard to get out more parts for our other cars. The viper performance part offering will probably remain mostly the same because it is so dominant, but these updates should help level the playing field. Keep with the suggestions on the leaderboard. And again, don’t be surprised if the rankings shift throughout the next week or so cause were making adjustments to our VDI equation.

Alright, I was just curious, and thanks for clearing it up. As always though, I’m crossing my fingers on getting the Lotus Exige S added. Again, it’s an absolutely gorgeous car, very cheap for it’s performance, and can definately give the Viper a run for it’s money…...again, just a suggestion.

viper owner, he probably owned a viper and went back to the srt-4 because it gets the most challenges because it is the most popular car to all the newbs and the fastest time for the 1/4 is put up he doesnt run that 8.88 with the srt-4 becuase i saw the same thing with mine i had the srt-4 all tuned out and it ran like 11.1 and now i baught the 350z and i run like 13.5 but it still says the 11.1 on my leader board ranking so i think its the best from everything except the vdi because it changes everyday so the rankings change about everyday

haha k… I’m just messing with you too… but I think it’s hard for other people to understand when they aren’t in our position. As I look at it I have a Porsche and tons of money so I can easily buy and fully upgrade a Viper, but I prefer the looks of the Porsche. I’m also getting close to an S7 (or whatever else might come out soon) so I don’t want to take the huge hit for trading in for a Viper.

Then I have to log in every day and see a list of 10+ Vipers waiting for me to accept the challenges. I take some sort of pride in the fact that I don’t “chicken out” and I believe that it is better for your VDi to accept all races so I am almost forced to race. The worst part is that its the same guys every single time! Its like they wait for me to accept the pwning then turn around and send another challenge for an automatic $450.

I am a fairly veteran player struggling with overpowering Vipers… so how are new members going to feel when they get picked on? They will quit if they simply lose a lot!

I wrote a lot, but I hope I can give you guys at least a little of our perspective.

Well damn that actually sounds pretty shitty. If cheecho or lijen or anyone reads these blogs, how about putting some kind of check and balance system, where maybe you can only challenge peeps 80 above or below your horsepower, or torque. Or put some kinda equation together that factors in your hp, torque and weight, and gives you a window where you can only race people within your window. Granted some cars have more horsepower, but weigh more… the equation could balance that out… Just a thought. But yeah, maybe a parts drop or a more competative car drop would work too.

Yeah they are definitely working on some ideas! I think that it would definitely be a good idea to carry over the 80hp limit that is on the random results into when you challenge people through the leaderboards. But idk how much work that would take to put into the game… I know the admins are working the butts off as it is with new cars, parts, and everything else so we’ll see!

Ok just had an idea… how about this equation… Your given HP at that time + your Torque at that time / your weight. S the equation would look like this. HP+TORQUE/WEIGHT = Your power to weight ratio… Mines .42 right now. The script could have limits like you can only race peeps .10 above or below you. That way everyone would be fairly balanced but could still race a lil out of there abilities. And for the Vdreamers out there tryin to scam the system… removing parts, sending challenges then reinstalling parts. Just modify the scrip so whatever your P-W ratio is at the time the challenge is sent, is the ratio you race that other car at. Simple as that. No more stomping new Vdreamers, or spammin the top guys with challenge requests they cant compete with. Just an idea though…

Thats the same thing that happens to me, I hate how the viper dudes just race people because they are going to win no matter what, even when they mess up they beat my m3. I have more than enough money for a viper and deck it out, i just dont want one. $50 a race just isnt worth the lose tally shooting up. i also have 0 chicken outs and it will stay that way if i can help it.

to all the viper victims: i posted a thought up there somewhere (man this thing is getting long) about not rewarding anyone if the person they challenge chickens out. in fact i think the $50 bonus they got for the challenge should be forfeited if the challenge is rejected. you still have the chicken out against you, but they lose any credit, monetary or otherwise, for the challenge. if they don’t get rewarded for it, it will stop.

also, challenges expire after 4 days. i just wait for them to go away (i have 7 vipers lined up to get me right now).

but here’s my devious little plan. i’m going to save up enough money to get the viper and fully mod it. then i’ll strip all the parts off my camaro and trade it in on the viper. fully mod the viper and race all the vipers that have challenged me. then i’ll strip the parts off the viper and trade it back in on the camaro. and since i have all the mods for both cars it won’t cost a whole lot to just switch back and forth every time i have vipers stacking up.

My myspace account is still locked due to it getting hacked, but I thought I’d make another car suggestion :) How about adding some Funny Cars and/or Rails? Obviously they’ll smoke the fastest car out there right now, but the way I see it, it would be pretty sweet to save up for a Funny Car or Rail to race against others with the same car :) Maybe start the Funny Cars/Rails to run as slow as 10s or 9s, then buy parts to make faster and move up the ladder to run 8s, 7s, 6s, etc. Just a thought :)

did i mention the noble m12? it cost 75k$ and has it produces 344 bhp at 5800 rpm and 380 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. and it only weighs 2313lbs stock.. top speed:185mph can stand up to a porsche and possibly a viper.

to Jed: i realize the challenges expire after like 4 days if i remember correctly. but when they expire, does it count as a chicken out? i’ve noticed over the last couple days that i have 2 more chicken outs than i did before, but i haven’t chickened out.

my thought about swapping cars to race the vipers was more just to make the game less mundane. me personally, i enjoy the discussion board more. but that has more to do with me than the game.

although, what im doin now is not accepting the viper challenges for like three days, that way the same dude can’t send me like 2 or 3 per day,lol. so i only get smashed every third day rather than every time i go on. and it’s working so far. turns out it was a group of like 7 or 8 people that have been doin it, caus i aint had any new viper challenges for a while.

VDI SUCKS! It needs to be modified so that 976hp douche bag Vipers can only race other 976hp douche bag Vipers and not look me up by my VDI. I spent a lot of money on my GT3 to get beat by an American Muscle car. When the leader board came out I was 27 now I’m off the list cause I keep getting challenges by Vipers that before could not race me.

Hey Josh, so to comment on your, well, comment, I agree whole-heartidly with what you have to say. I too hate the fact that many of the people playing this game are way too interested in having their names on the top, and in order to do so will race cars they will absolutely beat every time. Now I am not dogging the topped out Vipers because I too have one, but unlike them, I stick with random races, it’s very fair and I never race anyone that’s not in my league. I also have an Srt-4 on MySpace and I too get those challenges, I always accept, but it’s only because my ego is too big. Anyway, I hear you…....

Hey all, we are very aware of the VIPERLAND issue, and are gonna work hard in the next couple weeks to create some balance in that tier. Look for releases of some competing cars, and more performance part types. We’ve been reading your suggestions and are thinking of ways that we can balance out the community. We don’t want to restrict challenges to a power/weight ration or something like that because we at least want to always let users challenge their friends. Also, the main reason there were many swings in the leaderboard this week was because we were modifying the VDI equation every day, and that would drastically change the user rankings. There might be some minor tweaking to the VDI equation in the future, but most of the major initial changes happened last week. And yes, we have definitely reached an all time comment record with this thread. I think I just read a short novel.

i agree with jevmaster5 about having an experience mod that gets calculated into the race equation. an example of how exp points would be given out is as follows.

if the underdog losses each side would get 2 points if the underdog wins, he gets 3 points and the the other guy gets 1 point.

obviously this is a rudimentary example but this type of tiered scale i think could balance things out in the long term. it’s not directly limiting who can challenge whom (or is it who?) but it does build in incentives that aren’t there now and having an experience modifier would add some variety to the races. right now it simply comes down to power and chance. it’s almost like you don’t need a driver at all.

another thing that just came to me. why can we see other people’s hp and torque? is that even realistic? i don’t know. in actual races is that something that you would or even could know about the other driver?

how bout not letting people see other people’s engine specs? you could still look under the hood and see how heavily modified the car is but the actual hp wouldn’t be listed and you would have to go in and calculate it. then all you would have to go by is the person’s win/loss ratio.

not saying it should be done, more asking how would that type of thing work. worth thinking about.

I have a question to the admins regarding parts submission… I would kill get have a Gallardo out for the game and I know there is a big (exotic car wise) aftermarket list for the gallardo’s. I would like to start to compile a nice list of engine mods, body-kits, and twin-turbo systems (there are actually two companies with a good handfull of twin-turbo gallardo’s on the street already!). So my question is where should I submit these to maybe sway your mind. haha… Email maybe?

not sure if you guys have thought about this but with all of the wins the viper owners have even if they did put out a gallardo they would just buy it off hand and still have enough money to mod it out and start this whole “viperland” over with the gallardos and then it would be “gallardoland” and then you guy would be pissy about that for a faster car or a nicer looking car that can win and it would just go on and on…

there is a link to the forum in in the FAQ section (toward the bottom). a link to the FAQ is at the bottom of the application page. that’s how i get there because i don’t know any other way. i think i have a direct bookmark on my computer. where that bookmark is, is anyone’s guess.

i think there should be a direct link to the forum on the application page.

but yes, a forum on the vDream site would allow myspacers and facebookers to coexist. theoretically.
